Ann M. Powers

For the past eight years, I have been helping high school students create well-balanced college lists and write winning college applications. I have been successful in getting students into their top choice schools and more importantly, into "right fit" schools where they will thrive.

Professionally, I spent fifteen years on Wall Street as an equity and debt analyst and three years as an equity portfolio manager. In these positions, I was recognized for my insightful research and analysis, thoughtful investment and debt rating recommendations, and solid writing skills. I like to look for "big picture" ideas and analyze issues related to a question, before coming to a reasoned recommendation. I use these same skills to help students take both an "eagle" and "microscope" view of their college search and application process.

I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in Urban Studies from Loyola University of Chicago. More recently, I completed a certificate in Adult Career Planning and Development from New York University and am certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). I also have a certificate in College Counseling (with distinction) from UCLA and completed the intensive Summer Training Institute given by IECA.

I am a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and the New Jersey Association of College Admissions Counselors (NJACAC).
